TURUN SINIKOTKAT

Turun Sinikotkat ("The Blue Eagles of Turku") is one of the biggest and oldest boy scout troops of Turku in Southwestern Finland. The troop was founded in 1937.

Sinikotkat offers scouting activities for all age categories including cub scouts, scouts and venture scouts. The youngest of us are usually 7 years old and the oldest leaders are well in their 60's or 70's. The troop has more than 200 members. The main focus is in organising scouting activities for boys of ages from 7 to 15 years. Sinikotkat has 3 cub packs and 5 patrols. Scouting activities are also offered for disabled and handicapped children.

Apart from having regular weekly meetings for packs and patrols, Sinikotkat offers a wide range of activities for its members. Outdoor activities include frequently held weekend camps in one of our three camping sites in the archipelago. Usually Sinikotkat organises two longer camps in a year, one during the winter and one in summertime. Other regular activities include sailing, hiking, outings and visits, participation to local and national scouting contests and more. Turun Sinikotkat has also it's very own brass band performing yearly in different occasions including the traditional Scout Parade of local scout district.

Turun Sinikotkat belongs to Turku Cathedral Congregation. The troop headquarter is located in Turku city centre in the vicinity of Cathedral and River Aura. Turun Sinikotkat has also its own supporters' association and the troop offers also activities to the mothers and fathers of the scouts.

Sea scouting has been practised in Sinikotkat since the 1950's. The troop's sixth sail training vessel in the troop's histori is being built. Press releases can be found here
